✈️ Aerodromes Oversight

The Aerodromes Branch of the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI) is responsible for the certification and safety oversight of airports and aerodromes operating within Solomon Islands.

This oversight is conducted in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act 2008 (as amended), Civil Aviation Rule Parts 139 and 157, and applicable ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

🌍 Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, an aircraft takes off or lands somewhere in the world every second — underscoring the importance of safe, compliant aerodrome operations.

🛫 Certification & Safety Oversight

CAASI provides clear guidelines, procedures, and investigative processes to assess aerodrome operators for the issuance of aerodrome certificates. These processes ensure that aerodromes meet required safety standards and comply with ICAO Annex 14 and Civil Aviation Rules Part 139.

🔍 Inspection & Compliance

A fundamental element of CAASI’s responsibility is the periodic inspection and testing of certified aerodromes to verify ongoing compliance. A robust inspection and audit framework enables CAASI to fulfill its mandated safety oversight obligations effectively.

🏷️ Aerodrome Classification

  • ✔️ Certified Aerodromes
  • ✔️ Non-Certified Aerodromes

These categories are defined under Rule Part 139 – Aerodromes Certification and Operation, ensuring consistent regulatory treatment across all aerodrome facilities.
